Look Who's Talking '08...

Here are the speakers so far, who have signed up to speak at WOTP 08. There are still a few more to announce as we progress through confirming who is coming this year. As you can understand, getting to the New Zealand Alps can take a bit of organising for some high profile and busy international speakers so getting confirmation can sometimes take a while!

The list is due to change slightly and the speaker topics will be added to the list once they are confirmed.

 

Chris J.T. Auld

Chris Auld is Director, Strategy and Innovation at Intergen, a leading Australasian Microsoft Partner. Chris holds degrees in Law and Information Science from the University of Otago and has worked with high-level national and multinational clients such as Microsoft and Telecom New Zealand. He has worked on a number of significant projects in early stage technology including developing sample code and training material for .NET 3.0, Windows Sharepoint Services and Silverlight.

Geoff Bowers

Geoff's the CEO and Application Architect for Daemon Internet Consultants. As an Adobe Master Instructor, father of FarCry, and keeper of the Goog, Geoff keeps his fingers in by doing a bit of ColdFusion here and there.

James Breeze

James is an IT Psychologist who constantly seeks better ways of doing things. He enjoys helping people get the most out of technology and has experience across a myriad of intranet, extranet and Web projects across Australia's largest corporate and government agencies. He has recently created a new and unique usability company that focuses on scalable consulting products, delivered in a highly motivational context for staff, customers and developers alike.

Thomas Burleson

Thomas Burleson is a Universal Mind (the largest Flex consultancy in the USA) Principal Architect for Flex, Coldfusion, and Java web solutions. With over 20 years development and leadership experience, he has delivered applications and custom business solutions for numerous commercial and vertical markets.

He has significant experience with user-interfaces, database and software architectures, product delivery and technical leadership and mentoring. Most recently he lead the development efforts for the online Flex applications at Sherwin-Williams now available for public use. He has also lead development efforts to create Flex-based CRM tools for clients in the health and manufacturing markets.

Jose Fajardo

Robin Hilliard

Robin Hilliard is founder and CEO of RocketBoots, a business community providing solutions, consulting and training to organisations working with RIA technologies. He is an experienced software architect, with a particular focus on Adobe’s Flex, ColdFusion, Flash and Flash Media Server products.

Formerly with Allaire and Macromedia, Robin is a certified Flash and ColdFusion developer, an Adobe certified Master Flex and ColdFusion Instructor and has a BSc in computer science and pure mathematics from Sydney University. Robin is based in Sydney, Australia.

Robert Hoekman Jr

Robert Hoekman, Jr., is the founder of Miskeeto, a product development and web design consultancy focused on socially-conscious projects that improve the world.

He's a passionate and outspoken Interaction Designer, Writer, and User-Experience Evangelist who has written dozens of articles and has worked with Adobe, Automattic, United Airlines, DoTheRightThing.com, Go Daddy Software, and countless others to create superior user experiences for a wide range of audiences.

Kai Konig

Kai is a German Software Solutions Architect living in New Zealand by choice but working internationally. He has just started a new venture as a self-employed consultant for Adobe's and other web technologies under the brand Ventego Creative.

Before that he spent a few years working as a Software Solutions Architect for Macromedia and Adobe partner companies in Europe and New Zealand.

Michael Kordahi

Michael Kordahi is a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft Australia. He has a strong background in web development and now focuses on working with passionate early adopters of Microsoft’s emerging web technologies. If you stare deep into his eyes for long enough, you’ll likely see the lovingly warm glow of the Silverlight logo embedded deep in his pupil. He also spends his days in the land of Windows Live, WPF, ASP.NET and Vista Media Centre development. He also blogs regularly over on delicategeniusblog.com and spends his non waking hours dreaming of taking photos and slaying the bad guys over on Xbox Live.


Andrew Muller

Trainer, mentor, developer, blogger and presenter, Andrew has been involved with the production and development of RIAs in Australia since 2002. Certified Adobe Instructor for Flex, ColdFusion, Flash & Connect, Andrew is also an Adobe Community Expert.

He is a prolific writer with a growing list of articles for the Adobe Developer Center, labs.adobe.com, Internet.au, Digital Media World, Australian Developer and International Developer magazines. His also is a regular blogger and feature writer for BuilderAu.com.au and has spoken at Macromedia/ Adobe related conferences both in the United States, New Zealand and Australia.

Indy Nagpal

Indy is a Flex and ColdFusion instructor with a decade of experience in ColdFusion. Indy has worked on a variety of projects using ColdFusion and Flex in India, Canada and New Zealand. He is a Senior Developer and Training Manager at Straker Interactive.

Tatham Oddie

Tatham Oddie is a Windows Live Platform MVP and regular presenter at conferences and usergroups throughout Australia and New Zealand. Having run a creative agency, his focus is on web technologies that look good and work well at the same time.


His technical focus lies around ASP.NET and its extensibility with frameworks like ASP.NET AJAX and ASP.NET MVC.

Nigel Parker

Nigel Parker is a Web Development Advisor for Microsoft New Zealand in Auckland. Nigel has an entrepreneurial background and has numerous successful "start-ups" under his belt. Nigel leverages his experience to spend time working with developers, web agencies and on high profile web sites in New Zealand aiding them with the early adoption of Microsoft Technologies.

 

Simon Reid

A veteran of the digital media industry, Simon has produced engagement and experience strategies for CD Rom, Web, DVD and RIAs. His knowledge of interactive systems and human-computer interaction has been applied to interactive media for government agencies in three countries and corporate entities globally.

His past consulting engagements with Ferrari, Volkswagen AG, United Nations and Nike, amongst others, have created some of the most engaging online strategies and experiences from concept through to first click.

Coaching at several tertiary institutions across Australia, Simon is a keen player in the instruction and tutoring of the next generation of interactive designers. As Snr. User Experience Consultant with Adobe Pacific, he is charged with ensuring that Adobe and its partners are delivering the most appropriate user experiences via Adobe’s Engagement Platform.

Simon Slooten

Simon Slooten is founder (1992) and CEO of Prisma IT (www.prisma-it.com) , an Adobe Silver Solution Partner and Certified Training Partner, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He has over 24 years of international experience in the computer industry, in consultancy, software architecture and training.
Simon is an Adobe Certified Master Instructor for Flex, ColdFusion and LiveCycle. He is co-author of the official Adobe Flex, LiveCycle and ColdFusion training curriculum and he has been working with ColdFusion and Flex since the early beta’s of version 1.0.

He is a regular speaker at international events and has spoken at multiple Allaire Developer Conferences, Macromedia MAX and Adobe MAX conferences from 1999 to this year, as well as many other events.

Andrew Spaulding

Andrew is a Systems Engineer for Adobe in Australia. Andrew started in IT as a User Interface developer for Achilles Foundation in 2003. After migrating the UI from various Java mixes to Flex, Andrew left Achilles Foundation to become a contract Flex developer, working on multiple Flex projects throughout Australia.

This then led to a career with Macromedia in October 2005, now Adobe Systems, where he provided support for customers around Asia Pacific and more recently progressing to a technical sales role as a Systems Engineer.


Grant Straker

Grant is the CEO and founder of Straker Interactive, a global provider of web content management and Adobe Flex development tools. He is an experienced ColdFusion and Flex developer.

Mark Stanton

Mark Stanton is a specialist in Internet systems design and development. Mark has a passion for many aspects of web development from usability & information architecture, to HTML & CSS, through to software design & development and languages such as ColdFusion, Java, ASP, PHP.

Mark is highly regarded within the development community and regularly provides support, consultation and presentations to software developers. He is a founding member of the Web Standards Group which aims to standardise the development methodologies for internet based systems.

Mark manages the programming department within Gruden and is in implementing processes within Gruden to ensure a streamlined and efficient approach to development.


Todd Trevillion

Todd is the CEO of Gruden worldwide and is responsible for the day to day management of the company across the Group. As co-founder of Gruden - a leading digital agency & software development house, Todd works with Gruden's major clients / brands helping with their online business strategy.

A fan of anything technology based and with over 15 years experience in the IT & Web industries, Todd drives the key business initiatives, leads the strategy and provides direction on future business opportunities for Gruden.
